LAL Torbay (formerly known as Torbay Language Centre) was founded in 1984. Our purpose-built and newly improved school provides the ideal language learning Environment. The school has more than thirty classrooms, a dedicated internet study, WiFi access, a listening centre, a bookshop, student lounge and student Café. Renovations have also provided an Executive lounge, an attractive garden and patio, a brand new Reception, new washroom facilities and Student Service areas. The school and its programmes have been specifically designed so that Adults and Young Learners are able to study and socialise separately. In the summer months, in addition to our Torbay-based programmes, we run two high quality residential summer centres for 9 to 17 year olds at a Kelly College in Tavistock, and Taunton School in Somerset. Learn English with LAL in England - Residential Summer School for Young Learners at Kelly College in Tavistock
Kelly College is a private, independent school built in 1877 to educate the sons of naval officers. The main school is a beautiful, old building, reminiscent of Harry Potter’s school, set in vast, beautiful grounds, incorporating various accommodation houses and facilities for the students.
Accommodation is dormitory style with rooms holding from 2-6 beds and shared bathroom facilities, while there is a common room attached to each block, equipped with sofas, TV/video & pool table.
Full board catering is provided with a varied menu and fresh food chosen from local suppliers.
15 hours of lessons per week are taught by our Cambridge CELTA/Trinity TESOL qualified teachers and there is a full and diverse activity programme for the rest of the time, including a full and 2 half day excursions every two weeks.

Taunton School is a private, independent school, founded in 1847, though the current school was built in 1870. The main gothic-influenced building, constructed from local stone, with a 50 foot high clock tower, dominates the site. Set in large grounds, Taunton School offers unrivalled sports facilities and various accommodation houses for the students and staff alike.
